Best AI for meeting notes
As of 2026-07-18, Anthropic: Claude Opus 4.8 (Fast) is the strongest model for this task in our daily benchmark, where over 350 AI models are evaluated and the best are presented.
Minutes need to answer three things: what was decided, who does what, and by when. Models that are strong at free-form prose often fail exactly here — they produce a tidy summary without surfacing the decisions.
For meeting notes we rank by precision in following instructions, because the structure is the whole point. Ranked by instruction score, from today’s benchmark.

Ask for decisions and actions separately
The most useful prompt splits the minutes into three fixed blocks: decisions, action items with owner and deadline, and open questions. Everything else is background. Without that structure you get minutes that read nicely and are useless to follow up.
Privacy in meeting notes
Meeting notes often contain names, assessments of employees and business information. That is personal data. Use a tool your employer has approved, and be especially careful with audio recordings — they require their own legal basis.
